The 600-hour program is divided into 3 Occupational Completion Points (OCP) and state courses.

  • Basic Healthcare Worker. (90 hours)
  • Central Sterile Service Materials Management (150 hours)
  • Central Sterile Processing Technician. (410 hours)

The Central Sterile Processing Technician 410 hours is completed as an internship at local medical facilities.  Students must have reliable transportation to the medical facilities and hours of the internship may vary based on individual facility availability.


Students must complete a background check and drug screen to be eligible to participant in the internship. 


As part of the public school system, Brewster follows the Hillsborough County Public Schools calendar which includes a fall, spring and winter break. 

Classes meet Monday - Friday, 8am-2pm, August through May and Monday - Thursday, 8am-2:45pm June and July. (Clinical hours may vary).


Meet Your Instructor

Mrs. Yunisleidys Toiran, a 2017 graduate of the Central Sterile Processing program at Brewster Technical College, has built an impressive career in the medical field. Mrs. Toiran obtained her Certified Registered Central Service Technician credential in 2017 and has worked in the medical field since 2017. 


In 2022, Mrs. Toiran was appointed as the Educator & System Coordinator at St. Joseph’s South Hospital. In this role, she was responsible for orientation, education, and training within the Sterile Processing Department. Her work included developing and implementing educational activities to enhance professional competencies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing ongoing training in safety, infection control, and sterile processing procedures.

She also managed key systems responsibilities, including administration of the SPM computer module, familiarity with the Operating Room scheduling system, Par Excellence, and materials management systems for medical supply purchasing.


In March 2024, Mrs. Toiran returned to Brewster Technical College as a valued faculty member of the instructional team. Her dedication to excellence and deep industry knowledge continue to inspire and prepare the next generation of sterile processing professionals.
